History
It all started in 1978, when Belgian and Dutch Jaycees at the European Congress in Antwerp came up with the idea of bringing together chapters from every country in the European Community (EC). In 1979 - the year of the first elections to the European Parliament - the first EMT took place at Alphen-aan-de-Rijn in the Netherlands. There, nine chapters from all over Europe met in order to found the EMT. This meeting resulted in an ongoing friendship. From then on the EMT became an annual conference: 1979 The Netherlands (Alphen a/d Rijn) 1980 Scotland (Paisley) 1981 Ireland (Malahide) 1982 Belgium (Hasselt) 1983 Denmark (Kolding) 1984 France (Villefranche) 1985 England (High Wycombe) 1986 Germany (Mannheim - Lu.hafen) 1987 Italy (Prato) 1988 The Netherlands: (Alphen a/d Rijn) 1989 Belgium (Hasselt) 1990 Scotland (Paisley) 1991 Ireland (Malahide) 1992 Italy (Prato) 1993 France (Villefranche) 1994 Denmark (Kolding) 1995 Spain (Sabadell) 1996 Belgium (Hasselt) 1997 Mannheim-Ludwigshafen (Germany) 1998 Alphen aan de Rijn (The Netherlands) 1999 Fingal (Ireland) 2000 Paisley (Scotland) 2001 Lappeenranta (Finland) 2002 Ealing (England) 2003 Villefranche ( France) 2004 Sabadell (Catalonia) 2005 Kolding (Denmark)Functional Food 2006 Hasselt (Belgium) 2007 Mannheim - Ludwigshafen (Germany) 2008 Alphen aan de Rijn (The Netherlands) 2009 Fingal (Ireland) 2010 Lappeenranta (Finland) 2011 Villefranche sur Saône (France) |
